Within the framework of the TERRIFIC project, an important milestone was achieved in the development of innovative bio-based packaging solutions.

ROTTNEROS successfully produced high-quality thermolaminated trays using a film developed by PROFECTUS from Novamont biomaterial.

This achievement demonstrates the potential of advanced bio-based materials to deliver functional, sustainable alternatives for the packaging sector.

The trays were showcased at Packaging Innovations Birmingham, organised by Easyfairs UK Ltd, which took place on 11–12 February. The event provided an excellent opportunity to present the project’s results to industry stakeholders and to highlight the progress made in scaling up bio-based solutions for real market applications.

This development aligns closely with the objectives of the TERRIFIC project, which aims to accelerate the transition towards sustainable, circular, and high-performance bio-based materials, strengthening collaboration across the value chain — from material innovation to end-use applications.

By demonstrating the feasibility of thermolaminated trays derived from Novamont biomaterial, the project confirmed the role of innovation and cross-sector cooperation in advancing circular bioeconomy solutions for the European packaging industry.
